What is the Indian Place Value Chart?
The Indian place value chart is a table used to find the value of any digit in a number based on its position. The value of the digit is calculated according to the Indian number system.

The table given above tells us the following points related to the Indian place-value system:
- The nine places are divided into four periods: Ones, Thousands, Lakhs, and Crores.
- All the periods are separated by a comma when we write the number in its numeral form.
- The rightmost period is ones, and it consists of three place values: ones, tens, and hundreds.
- The second period is thousands, and it consists of two place-values: thousands and ten thousand.
- The third period is lakhs, and it consists of two place-values: lakhs and ten lakhs.
- The fourth period is crores, and it consists of two place-values: crores and ten crores.
- All the digits in the same period are read together along with the name of the period except ones period.
For example: In the Indian numeration system, 2930625 will be written as 29,30,625 and read as “Twenty Nine Lakhs Thirty Thousands Six Hundred Twenty-Five.”
Indian Place Value for Decimals:
According to the Indian place value system, the place values of digits after the decimal point are read in the order of Tenths, Hundredths, Thousandths, and so on.
For Example: In the decimal number 14.532
1 is at Ones place.
4 is at Tens place.
5 is at Tenths place.
3 is at Hundredths place and
1 is at Thousandths place.
This number is read as “Fourteen point Five Three Two”
