Multiples of 7: Method with Examples- Mindspark

What do we mean by Multiples of 7?

When we multiply 7 with any natural number, the number we get is a multiple of 7. If a number is divided by 7 and the remainder obtained is zero then that number is also a multiple of 7. Therefore any number in the form of 7x (where x is a natural number) will be a multiple of 7.

Multiples Of 7

In the above table, we can see the 1st twelve multiples of 7.

Hence 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70, 77, 84, 91…. and so on are multiples of 7.

Examples

1. Is 72 a multiple of 7?

No, 72 is not a multiple of 7 as 7 does not divide 72 completely.

\frac{72}{7}= 10.28, which is not a natural number.

2. Is 1 a multiple of 7?

No,1 is not a multiple of 7 as the first and smallest multiple of a number is the number itself. 1 is a factor of 7 as:

\frac{7}{7} = 1.

3. Is 147 a multiple of 7?

Yes, 147 is a multiple of 7 as 7 divides 147 completely and having remainder as zero.

\frac{147}{7}= 21, since 21 is a natural number therefore 147 is a multiple of 7.

POINTS TO REMEMBER

  • The first and the smallest multiple of a number is the number itself, therefore 7 is the first and smallest multiple of itself.
  • As we know there are infinitely many natural numbers, therefore we cannot count how many multiples does a number has or what is the highest multiple of a number.
  • Multiple of an odd number can be odd or even as when we multiply the odd number with another odd number, a result is an odd number and when we multiply any number with an even number, the result is an even number.
  • Multiple of an even number will always be an even number as any number multiplied by an even number gives an even number.
