We can see the 9 table below. In this table, we wrote 9 first and then keep adding 9 as we go down the table.

The table of 9 is a list of multiples of 9 generated when 9 is multiplied by natural numbers.

After memorizing the multiplication table 9, we can use it now to solve questions as shown below.

1. Neha goes to a shop to buy pens. The shopkeeper tells her that the cost of 1 pen is Rs 9. How much money should Neha give to the shopkeeper to buy 8 such pens?

Solution:

Cost of 1 pen = Rs 9

Cost of 8 pens = Rs (9 × 8)

From the 9 table we know that 9 eights are 72

9 × 8 = 72

Therefore, Neha should give Rs 72 to the shopkeeper to buy 8 pens.

2. Preeti went to the market to sell apples. The cost of 1 apple is Rs 9. At the end of the day, Preeti had Rs 90. How many apples did Preeti sell?

Solution:

Cost of 1 apple = Rs 9

Total money Preeti got = Rs 90

From 9 table we know that 9 tens are 90

9 × 10 = 90

Hence Preeti sold 10 apples.
